FUNDING PROGRAMS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO HELP PEOPLE

 

Groundbreaking for Women's and Children's Alliance shelter The foundation provides annual nursing scholarships to Northwest Nazarene University nursing students. Smoke jumpers parachuted out of an airplane and surprised the kids attending the MDA Summer Camp in McCall. Michelle's wish granted by Wish Granters was a trip to see the Northern Lights. Interfaith Sanctuary serves homeless families and works to transition them into permanent homes. Royce Wright stands next to a new lift the foundation funded for the Oasis Food Center which feeds the poor in Caldwell three times a week. Campers, volunteers and staff send a shout out to all who helped fund the MDA Camp in McCall. Volunteers fill food bags at the Meridian Food Bank. A student at Life's Kitchen measures ingredients as she competes in an appetizer contest. The foundation supports the work of helping teens refocus their lives and learn culinary skills at Life's Kitchen. A young writer reads from his work after participating in a summer writing camp at The Cabin. Camp for teenagers with cancer is one of three camps held by Camp Rainbow Gold each summer. Ryan Endicott has hemophilia, but it doesn't stop him from teaching kids how to rope at Camp Red Sunrise. The foundation funds programs at the Boise Rescue Mission to help meet great basic needs. The Boise State nursing scholarship program is the single largest funded program in foundation history. Canyon County Community Clinic celebrated its fourth year anniversary helping those without health insurance receive care in Canyon County. Kids get a chance to be kids and develop unique friendships at the Boys and Girls Club. Foundation board members serve at the annual Boise Rescue Mission Christmas dinner. Big Brothers/Big Sisters annual summer picnic brings "bigs" and "littles" together for food, fun and some silliness too. Ground is finally broken in June for the new gym and teen facility at the Boys and Girls Club in Meridian. Nate won a bike--the first one of his own--at the Big Brothers Big Sisters summer BBQ. Boys and Girls Clubs in Garden City and Nampa received funds to start new youth sports programs. The foundation helped Life's Kitchen start an internship program. Here, a student learns on the job at Asiago's. Fifth graders visit the Warhawk Air Museum to learn about our nation's history as part of the foundation's support of its education programs. Idaho Statesman Ad Shepherds Home board members receive a grant to sustain their mission of providing a safe haven for children in need. The foundation has funded the Salvation Army Dress a Child event in Boise and Nampa since 1991. Oasis Food Center recieved a refrigerated truck and equipment to help feed the hungry in Caldwell. Assistance League of Boise gives needy children clothing and new shoes as part of Operation School Bell. Mayor Bob Henry cuts the ribbon to open the Nampa shelter for women and children, operated by the Boise Rescue Mission. The Mentoring Network pairs at-risk youth with adult mentors for long-term relationships. The Mentoring Network in Canyon County pairs adults and kids to gain better outcomes for at-risk youth. The foundation funded after-school and summer programs for kids at Mercy Housing's low-income housing developments in Nampa. MDA campers had a 'color war' at camp, an idea gleaned from the Color Run.
